Fibroscan® consultation

A Fibroscan is a non-invasive, painless investigation which uses ultrasound technology to assess the health of your liver.  The test is performed by the bedside, in a standard consultation room, and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.  You are required to fast for 3 hours prior to the Fibroscan.

A Fibroscan is useful for assessing liver steatosis (liver fat) and fibrosis (liver damage/scarring) and provides additional information which cannot be obtained from regular liver imaging such as ultrasound.   Understanding liver steatosis and fibrosis helps your doctor to better understand the health of your liver and to formulate a management plan.

Dr Bloom and Dr Braude will explain your results during your consultation and will provide a written report at the end of the consultation. A copy will also be sent to your referring practitioner.
